Krisanne performs in multiple guises out of Halifax, N.S. on piano/sax & vocals, & as songwriter/arranger/bandleader. Her latest passionate initiative is an all-woman 8 piece jazz/blues band, SheJamBlues, ranging in age from 21-73, formed in 2023 to mentor & support upcoming women instrumentalists & vocalists. Their sold out debut at The Cape Breton Jazz Fest & their TD Halifax Jazz Fest mainstage performance bodes for great things to come. Graduate of Humber College Jazz Performance & Arranging program with a B.Ed in Music from Dalhousie University. Taught public school music for 6 years & recently completed a 20-year career with The Stadacona Band of the Canadian Armed Forces. As the East Coast Navy Band’s piano player, she also performed on tenor/alto sax and was the featured vocalist. Between fulltime military career and freelancing she has honed her music skills in everything from Big Band, Jazz Quintet, R&B and Rock Band, as leader & performed in a vast array of indoor/outdoor venues with many international and overseas performances, including tours with HMCS ships & performances at the Canadian Embassy in Washington. A regular performer at the Halifax Jazz Festival, ECMA winner and multiple nominee, her debut CD, Krisanne Crowell with Solarocity, Right in The Middle of Wrong has garnered many accolades from jazz and blues enthusiasts.
