Amy Blanding
Artist
Amy Blanding (she/her) is a queer, disabled musician who is unapologetically and unequivocally creating the music that needs to be heard. Known for her profound songwriting, powerful voice, and electric stage presence, Amy Blanding collects moments in the Northern wild and turns them into stalwart, protest folk songs with a raw edge. Born in the four corners region of Navajo, Hopi, Ute, and Zuni territory (Colorado) and raised on the red shores of Epekwitk - Mi’kmaq territory (PEI) she took the long way home to the traditional and unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh (Prince George). Cutting her teeth with nationally recognized folk rock band Black Spruce Bog, and boasting collaborations with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, Kym Gouchie, Rachelle van Zanten, Marcel Gagnon, Reckless Burning, and countless other artists, Amy Blanding’s music seamlessly bridges the gap between audience, artist, and advocacy toward a greater possibility for the collective.

Amy released her debut album “Down the Line” in September 2019, charting with campus and community radio stations across the country and selling out her album release show. Her touring plans were cut short by COVID, the birth of her son, and full-time work in healthcare equity. In December 2024, Blanding committed herself to pursuing music full-time, focusing not only on her own project promotion but also pursuing co-songwriting credit with and for other artists, and stewarding disability justice and equity work in the music industry.

2025 promises to be a banner year for Blanding, kicked off with a main stage set at the Coldsnap Winter Music Festival to a sold-out audience, sharing the stage with Mama’s Broke and John Wort Hannam. She followed this up with the viral release of her single "Sunbirds" to international acclaim, garnering her thousands of new Instagram and streaming followers, and a flourish of interest in her new material and collaborations. She was featured as part of the Let’s Hear It! BC JUNOS Tour at the beginning of March with Garret T Willie and Desiree Dawson. Amy is heading into Afterlife Studios in Vancouver in June to record her highly anticipated sophomore album, release slated for Fall 2025. With a lineup of festivals and touring dates taking shape for spring and summer 2025, Blanding also looks forward to touring across BC and Canada with her new record and is planning a Maritimes tour for fall 2025.
