Claire Leslie-Turnbull is an active performer, music educator and advocate for music as social change currently based in Cowansville, Quebec. She currently works at MusiCounts, Canada's music education charity as Programs Coordinator. Last year Claire worked at the Montreal Chamber Music Festival as their Director of Operations. From 2021-2023 Claire worked as a Teaching Artist at Sistema New Brunswick, was the Orchestra Manager with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, was a regular performer with the New Brunswick Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the Tutta Musica Orchestra. Claire graduated with a Masters in Music Education at Longy School of Music. She was also a member of the 2021 Cohort with the Global Leaders Program and was a Hildegard Behrens Foundation Global Humanitarian Entrepreneur Prize Laureate. She received a Graduate Diploma in Orchestral Repertoire from the University of Montreal and obtained her Bachelor of Music in Orchestral Performance with outstanding achievement in Flute performance, from McGill University. She has had the opportunity to study with some of Canada’s most renowned performers and educators and wishes to pass on her knowledge to her students. Claire has performed with orchestras, bands, and chamber ensembles across Canada over the years. She began studying the flute over 20 years ago under the tutelage of David Gerry.
