About:À propos de :  Brighid Fry

Housewife is the Canadian indie rock/pop solo project of critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Brighid Fry (she/her). 20 year old Fry is queer and an ally, an activist and champion of the environmental organization Music Declares Emergency. In fact, Housewife sums it up pretty concisely in its Twitter bio: “Opinionated feminist indie band.” Fry has been a staple in the Toronto indie scene since taking part in Girls Rock Camp when she was 8 years old. She has released five EPs (1 as a solo artist, 1 with kids band Kingdom of Birds and 3 with Moscow Apartment, -later Housewife-). Moscow Apartment changed their name to Housewife in April 2022 and after 5 plus years as a duo is now a solo project. Previous releases were named “22 Albums You Need to Hear” by CBC, the top 25 EPs of 2020 (Exclaim) and 2022 (The Revue). Fry has also won a Canadian Folk Music Award, a Toronto Independent Music Award, the Canadian Songwriting Competition (in the under 18 category), and the Slaight Music It’s Your Shot award. In 2023 Housewife is releasing new music via Hazel Street Records (Sony / Orchard) and it is by far her most mature and insightful collection to date.
