Deb Beaton-Smith is the Executive Director for the British Columbia Music Festival Collective. (BCMFC) The BCMFC was formed in April 2020 at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic to provide a common voice and shared space for BC’s music festivals. www.bcmfc.ca In 2019, Deb created a project with support from Creative BC to conduct the BC Music Festival Survey project to develop a standardized music festival survey and Economic and Socio-Cultural Report. https://bit.ly/3jpfBrY

Deb started Beat Music Management in Saanich, BC eighteen years ago to provide artist and event management and has focused on opportunities that develop and build expertise and knowledge transfer in the music industry. She was an artist manager for over a decade and, ran small and large-scale events. Past contracts include: Director Rifflandia Gathering 2018 Conference, Sr. Project Manager Canada Day and 150 Events, Host Chair & Co-Producer BreakOut West 2015, Rifflandia Festival Artist Relations Director, Head of Artist Relations Rock the Shores, Artist Merch Manager 2010 Olympic’s Surrey site, Market Square Courtyard Series Producer, Logistics Manager Organic Island’s Festival & Event Programme Manager: BC Day, Island Children’s Festival and Car Free YYJ.

Deb has been a Creative BC Outreach Consultant & Grant Coach, BC Touring Council Trainer, Juror for the Junos, FACTOR, MusiCounts, Creative BC & Canadian Folk Music Awards and was a Director of Music BC for four years.
