Marie Martine is a professional musician and multidisciplinary creator, amplifying stories of resilience and justice. A graduate of Berklee College of Music in guitar and songwriting, she has left her mark on Quebec’s music scene, from playing bass guitar alongside Patrick Bourgeois to leading as the guitarist for Blue Oil, Quebec’s first all-female punk rock band, before collaborating with various artists and producers.
With several self-produced albums and over 1,000 live performances to her credit, she expanded her career into communications, sustainable development, and politics. She served as Communications Director and Webmaster for an engineering firm specializing in sustainable development, while developing skills in project management, video production, and image capturing—skills she continues to offer today for various creative and professional projects. She also chaired the Deux-Montagnes Citizens’ Committee, sat on the boards and executive committees of Fondation Rivières and Québec Vert Kyoto, and advocated for citizens as a Green Party of Canada candidate in three federal elections.
Following this diverse career path, Marie Martine returned to music by pursuing studies at Berklee College of Music, earning a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Songwriting (Magna Cum Laude) and a Professional Certificate in Guitar.
As a two-time Canada Council for the Arts grant recipient, she now explores the fusion of technological, digital, and popular arts. With her Projet Hippocampe, she innovates by transforming her brainwaves into melodic and rhythmic embryos to tell stories of resilience through her guitars and her voice.
