honolooloo
Artiste
honolooloo became interested in producing music in 2019, after playing classical guitar for years. Now arranging, composing and writing all the lyrics for their songs, honolooloo desires to create, and help others create good music. honolooloo merges the sassy confidence of pop, the airy vocals of R&B and the mellow feel of modern lo-fi to cultivate an entirely unique sound.
However, when searching for inspiration honolooloo is not afraid of diving into seemingly old-fashioned sources. Their main influences are the late 19th century Impressionists Debussy and Ravel, whose compositions honolooloo associates with water – being dynamic, soothing and sufficiently capable of capturing emotions. Another aspect of honolooloo’s sound reflects their admiration for Antônio Carlos Jobim’s light and fluid Bossa nova, whose laidback combination of drums, guitar and piano often inspire honolooloo’s work.
To contrast their instrumentals, honolooloo’s lyricism is influenced by the funk, groove and sociopolitical weight of Old-school hip hop, which connects their music to a wider message. With topics ranging from the struggles of the daily human experience to self-love and emancipation, honolooloo wants listeners to learn something while having a good time. Don’t expect another empty empowerment campaign, honolooloo will teach you how to love yourself for real – even if that means calling you out.
