Toronto Musicians’ Association (TMA) is Local 149 of the Canadian Federation of Musicians (CFM) and American Federation of Musicians (AFM). Together with the CFM and AFM, TMA aims to serve 3,000 professional musicians through organizing, promulgation, collective bargaining, and maintenance of agreements, as well as the development and delivery of services that improve musicians’ quality of life. The Membership and Contracts Coordinator (membership focus) position calls for multitasking with data entry tasks, while providing great service and information to past, current, and potential members. Additionally, the role will also be expected to fill in for many other tasks listed below as part of a small team with an increasing emphasis on flexibility to best serve all members.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with and support current, prospective, and former members and other stakeholders when asked questions via phone, email or in person.
- Process and complete data entry of membership applications, membership dues payments and contracts
- Update and verify TMA membership and contract files
- Maintain and track mail and phone call distribution
- Provide support for meetings and special events
- Learn and understand TMA/AFM/CFM contracting system and all agreements.
- Follow-up with engagers and leaders/contractors for required AFM/CFM/TMA paperwork and payments.
Qualifications:
- you demonstrate administrative experience such as updating files, arranging meetings, processing payments.
- you can use database applications including Microsoft Office, Windows, and other related including social media software
- you have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- your interpersonal skills enable you to work effectively and collaboratively as a team member.
- you can provide effective consultation services and contribute to complex briefing notes and materials.
- you can develop and maintain strong relationships with members, staff, board, engagers, and other stakeholders.
- you demonstrate initiative and good judgement by using appropriate methods of time management and organization
- you can prioritize your workload while meeting conflicting deadlines.
Asset:
Knowledge of Musicians and Live Performance and Recording Sectors:
- you have knowledge of the professional music sector and music contracting in order to analyze, record and prepare documents, and explain procedures.
