MEET THE WOMEN IN MUSIC CANADA STAFF

Robyn Stewart

Executive Director

Robyn Stewart is an 21-year veteran accomplished organization and event director. Previous to coming to Women in Music Canada, she was Executive director and CEO of the Western Canadian Music Alliance. Having started her career as a theatre Stage Manager, among other roles in the cultural industries she is passionate about the creative process and the role culture plays in communities. Her experience reaches all areas of event management and talent buying, with her strongest skills lying in financial management, complex logistics, government relations and fund development, and partner relationship building.

Among the projects she is most proud of; Celebration Sites Coordinator; Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2010, Entertainment Buyer; PanAmerican Games 2015, and her roles above, which has allowed her to support developing artists and engage in passion projects including working towards gender parity in the music industry on an international level. A travel enthusiast herself, Robyn is incredibly driven by her work supporting artists to showcase and develop business in international markets. Robyn holds board positions as Vice-Chair of Polaris Music Prize Canadian live Music Association and Chair of the Heart and Stroke Foundation Advisory Board of Manitoba.

Robyn is an extreme supporter of the music industry and emerging talent in Canada and brings this passion to every project.

On a personal note Robyn is mother to two incredible humans, Jasper (12) and Ty (4).

Tasha Schumann

Membership and Programming Coordinator

Tasha Schumann (Tasha the Amazon) is a Juno-nominated artist, media personality, and community-builder. Her music has been featured on shows like HBO’s Insecure and Genera+ion, Comedy Central's Broad City, VH1’s Love & Hip Hop and she’s been profiled in media like Billboard, New York Magazine, Afropunk, and FADER.

Her Afrofuturistic music videos⁠ have won awards around the world at festivals like FilmQuest, Apex Awards, and the MuchMusic Video Awards where she was the first woman to win the award for best Rap Video.

A passionate community-builder, Tasha works with programs like Women in Music Canada and Artscape to mentor and create opportunities for emerging artists nation-wide. She hosts Floralogica Telly award-winning nature show that has clocked +30 million views and a community of 2 million viewers. She is also the co-host of the Mind Bod Adventure Pod, an Apple Music top-5 rated podcast about practice. 

Sarah Shandl - White Tide Entertainment

Social Marketing Coordinator
For over a decade, Sarah Shandl has been building a career around creating and sharing experiences, a passion and lifestyle that extends beyond just paying the bills. She has played various roles in large-scale projects including the JUNO Awards, Michael Bublé’s LOVE World Tour, TED Talks, City of Surrey’s Fusion Festival and Canada Day, the 2010 Olympic Celebration Site, Rifflandia Festival, and Brewhalla Festivals. 
 
Juggling a portfolio of event management, talent buying, fan experience, and marketing/social media, Sarah’s day to day and project to project is quite diverse. 
 
She currently manages social media for a number of music industry clients, including Women In Music Canada.
